Why Choose Little Leaders?

Ages

We meet children at their level.

In our baby room

The routine in our baby room is highly flexible, depending on each baby`s routine at home, which we aim to follow as closely as possible, as advised by the parents. On a daily basis there are a variety of activities prepared: sensory activities (messy play – flour, sand, foam, cereals; light table; natural materials) , music (Baby Boogie Mites programme of music and movement, nursery rhymes with props), movement (baby yoga, baby Zumba, obstacle courses, ball pit), mark making with paint, crayons, chalk.

In our toddler room

The focus in this age group is developing independence and language skills. Daily activities include painting, messy play, sand and water play, role play and dressing up, singing, dancing, PE, arts and crafts , story telling, using a multitude of sensory books and props, outdoor play. Our toddlers share the same room as our Pre-schoolers so have access to the same exciting extracurricular activities

.

In our preschool room

Our Pre-schoolers will work in all the 7 areas of learning to get them ready for school. Daily activities include letters, sounds and numbers practice, writing, board games, science activities and many more. The children enjoy a range of weekly extracurricular activities: Jolly Phonics and Boogie Mites phonics, Busy Feet music, woodwork, cooking, Zumba, yoga. The nursery has an allotment and does weekly gardening activities.

Come

over and take a look.

Choosing Little Leaders means choosing a home away from home for your child. We invite you to schedule a visit to Little Leaders to experience our loving atmosphere firsthand. Meet our caring staff, explore our facilities, and see why families in our community trust us with the care of their precious ones.

We always invite the parents and the child to come for a show round. While the parents are shown the nursery, the child will have the great opportunity for a stay and play session so they too get a feel of our nursery, playing and interacting with the other children and our friendly teachers.

Our food hygiene rating is 5, the highest rating given by the Food Standards Agency. The children regularly do cooking, preparing snacks and puddings that they then have for meal times.

Educational Programmes

Maths and Technology

We will teach the children about Maths – sizes, shapes, numbers up to 10, spatial awareness in fun, interactive activities, such as shape sorting, matching quantities, sorting colours, measuring, counting songs, number games, board games and many others. They also learn about technology, how things work. They do woodwork using real tools and have a busy board with real life objects, such as locks and switches.

Literacy and Language Development

We offer a language-rich environment, with many songs, stories, nursery rhymes and conversations. By encouraging free play and intervening sensitively, we support the children to talk and exchange ideas. The teachers have training in supporting children with special education needs and do frequent language enrichment intervention activities to develop listening and attention. We support children with English as an additional language and use their home language for key words, we use Makaton (signs) and visual aids to help communication. We have a letter of the week which we practise in a variety of ways. We do Jolly Phonics, Boogie Mites and Busy Feet, all supporting Phase 1 phonics.

Art, Creativity and Personal Development

The children are encouraged to be creative and imaginative and they do this in a variety of ways by singing, dancing, role play and dressing up in the home corner, doing arts and crafts activities and so many more. We teach the children to be polite, independent, to respect and help each other and to work together. We do this by implementing Golden Rules of behaviour, being good role models, applying age-appropriate strategies for managing behaviour, doing activities about feelings, planning activities that teach the children to work together and to take turns. We create a fun, positive atmosphere, giving the children freedom and choices, which builds their self-confidence and readiness for school.
